Creation Context & Collaboration
It was the first devised theatre I got fully involved since the very beginning. After my fresh graduation out of McGill University, I joined Professor Myrna Wyatt Selkirk’s Theatre Lab class as an invited assistant director to collaboratively create a theatre piece with the class based on mask and improvisatory work. After 6 months of preparation finding distinct character from each individual and piecing together scenes, we landed on the idea of a fantastical land named “Townville”.

Play Synoposis
Welcome to the world of Townville; a fantastical far-away land where colourful, quirky villagers reside and morning never ends. In Townville, pool noodles grow on trees and chickens whisper their secrets. One day the morning is disrupted by the arrival of three uninvited guests. They cause a change that cannot be undone.

Are you ready to unravel the identity of the three strangers and the secrets of Townville?

Press & Recognition
“a genuinely funny play, anchored by committed actors and the authentic chemistry they share.” — Bull & Bear

Updates

Berfin Şimşek is currently making a documentary based on the research and rehearsal process I recorded and the interviews she did with director and some of the cast to show a full behind-the-scene process of a devised creation.

Detailed program of the production can be consulted here.
