Huirui Zhang

Huirui 晖睿 (she/her) is a Chinese-born interdisciplinary theatre artist and independent curator, currently based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Passionate about creating heartfelt stories that bridge cultures and spark connection, she uses devised techniques and movement-based pedagogy to approach theatrical storytelling in a collaborative setting.
As an emerging artist, she continues to expand her practice as a director, playwright, movement performer and curator. Huirui is currently part of the 2024-25 cohort of AMP program at Black Theatre Workshop and the Young Creators Unit at Playwright Workshop Montreal. She is also exploring TouchDesigner to experiment with the performativity of multimedia and question the complexity of liveness.
